The academy was established in 2000 by Director/Principal Cameron-Jane Thomas, a renowned make-up artist and trainer well-known across Australia for her make-up design expertise. She specialises in film, fashion and body art, leading innovative make-up design masterclasses to share her knowledge with the next generation of professional make-up artists in Australia.

At Cameron Jane Make-Up Academy, our students, trainers and alumni collaborate with professionals in print media, talent agencies and artists, as well as participating in community projects. Our trainers are deeply immersed in the beauty industry, which allows us to maintain a cutting-edge curriculum that provides our students with current and comprehensive training and mentoring to achieve their full potential.

Our academy continually wins awards for excellence in make-up education, with induction into the ABIA Hall of Fame in 2016. CJMA is the most awarded and Industry recognised academy in Australia. Recent awards include the 2020 Best Make-Up Academy in Australia from the Business Excellence Awards and the 2019 Education Business of the Year from the Makeup Artist Guild Awards.

Our trainers have extensive professional experience that they share with our students  getting them industry-ready by the completion of their course. With training from Cameron Jane Make-Up Academy, students receive the hands-on preparation required to excel in the competitive make-up design industry. While in training, students will practice their skills on models at professional photoshoots, helping them gain critical experience to launch their careers. With expert mentoring from industry leading trainers, students receive industry based work experience at the highest level. Cameron Jane Make-Up Academy was the first academy to conduct professional photoshoots for students to develop a portfolio of published work in magazines such as Marie Claire, Lita and Laud. Being a published artist before graduating is again another example of the experiences received at CJMA.

The academy offers industry-approved courses with specialisation in fashion, beauty, bridal, hair styling, television, film, special effects and prosthetics. After completing their training, our students go on to establish successful careers in make-up design and work across a variety of professional sectors around the globe.

At Cameron Jane Make-Up Academy, we recognise the importance of building strong personal relationships between students and trainers. We encourage each of our students to explore their individual strengths and passions within make-up design, with the support of our trainers.

We offer Certificate II, Certificate IV and Diploma courses, with the option to study either part-time or full-time. We also run bridal courses and make-up masterclasses. Cameron Jane Make-Up Academy is a registered training organisation (RTO) that meets the criteria set forth by the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).
